Disagreement over the sharing of their booty after a successful stealing expedition at Ashaiman has landed five suspected thieves in the hands of the police.

Tema Regional Police Public Affairs officer, Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, told the Times that on July 28, the suspects allegedly raided a house at Asensu Bar, in Ashaiman, and stole two mobile phones, a Nokia 3350 valued ¢400,000 and Siemens C25 valued ¢700,000 ¢500,000 cash.

He said the five later converged at a place to share their booty but one of them, Courage Kalle, 20, complained of being cheated by the others and that degenerated into a fight.

Later in the day, Kalle who was on board a taxi saw his four colleagues so he alighted and engaged them in a fierce fight which left them with injuries.

Mr. Nketia-Yeboah said Kalle had left the two mobile phones, a pair of canvas and trousers in the taxi and while he was fighting his friends the victim of the robbery rang one of the phones and the taxi driver picked up the call.

The cabbie according to Inspector Nketia-Yeboah, after hearing that the phone had been stolen, drove away to meet the victim, and together, they reported the matter to the police.

Mr. Nketia-Yeboah said Kalle was later traced to his hideout where he was in the process of receiving hot water treatment for his wounds.

He led the police to arrest the other four who were found celebrating at a drinking spot.

They are Mohammed Abdulai Zakari, 26, Ibrahim Moro, 23, Eric Adakwa, 26, and Eric Opoku, 27.
