Some Persons In Gov't Wish Covid-19 Stays Forever — Ablakwa
24.07.2020 LISTEN

Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Hon. Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa has said some people in the Akufo-Addo government wish the covid-19 pandemic stays forever.

The former Deputy Education Minister made this statement on social media few hours after the 2020 mid-year budget review was presented in Parliament on July 23 by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Attah.

Hon. Okudzeto expresses shock at government's spending as he pointed out the GHS 272 million the government said it has been used for the first phase of market fumigation exercise which was carried out few months ago across the country.

According to him, the covid-19 pandemic has opened the pot for some persons in the Akufo-Addo government to fill their bellies with misappropriation and unaccounted expenditures.

"I sincerely hope that Parliament and anti-graft institutions would ensure that the corona fight does not become a corona heist", parts of Okudzeto's statement reads.

He posted:

Going through the 2020 Mid-Year Review, it seems to me that some people in government would prefer that COVID-19 stays with us for a very long time.

A colossal GHS272million spent on fumigation alone (see page 66).

I sincerely hope that Parliament and anti-graft institutions would ensure that the corona fight does not become a corona heist.

Interesting days ahead, particularly, as we are told that a second phase of fumigation has just begun.
