He is currently receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
He was rushed there over difficulties in breathing on Wednesday evening.
He joins the list of high profile members of the ruling NPP who have tested positive to the virus.
Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Education Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh and Regional Integration Minister Dan Botwe all contracted the virus and have recovered.
Unfortunately, the Managing Director of the Forestry Commission Sir John succumbed to the virus last month.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo is still in self-isolation.
