Ghana's economy has a bright prospect - WB

Accra, July 23, GNA - Mr Paul Wolfowitz, President of the World Bank (WB), on Saturday stated that Ghana has the potential of becoming the leading economic giant in Africa if the present pace of development is maintained.

Speaking during a brief stop over at the Kotaka International Airport in Accra after a seven nation Africa tour, he said that while he would have loved to visit Ghana, other countries needed more guidance to run their economies.

Mr Gobian Nankanin, WB Vice President in Charge of Africa Region, also commended Ghana's performance, which had made the country to stand out on the continent.

He said if Ghana's present eight per cent growth rate was maintained the country could reach Middle Income status by 2015 with a little hard work, "There is more to be done we should emphasis on what has been achieved".
