Would Utopia Remain Utopia?

Feature Article Would Utopia Remain Utopia?
JUL 10, 2020 LISTEN

Welcome to Utopia! Sure, it's a place to be.
Her beauty and tranquility surpass any place on Earth. However, COVID-19, has slammed her doors. Boom boom, he seems to be firing everywhere.

Yet, in the midst of all this ravaging spree, Utopians haven't ceased to love one another and pick up the downtrodden.

Here, people make things happen when the Moon is snoring in the night. In Utopia, the Zus or Zas shy not to pair a virtuous woman with their 'Osahene' (flagbearer ) when the Sun is globetrotting. And when the Northern star appears to be under the weather they pray for his speedy recovery. They don't pray like this-- 'may your road be rough '

Former President John Mahama----the comeback kid seems to be walking a fine line in the hope of strengthening his political base and courting women voters. But would he stay the course till the D-day?

He prayed this prayer on Wednesday for President Akufo-Addo who is said to be in isolation after coming into contact with someone who has COVID-19.

"....I pray nothing untoward happens to him."
Bam (onomatopoeia), this is it! It might seem neglible or insignificant to his opponents but in politics everything counts. Blessed is the man whose heart is as large as a barge to accommodate it all-- good or bad, sweet or sour, success or failure.

No doubt Utopia, is a perfect place to be.
But keep in mind all isn't perfect here.
That perfection is a figment of one's imagination.

The atmosphere can change at its own choosing.
May I ask:What was it like when the dinosaurs were here? Did they fight and did they have playmates?

Did they wish their friends and enemies well?
If you don't know say, you don't know....stop the head scratching. Don't bite your nails.

Anyway, I know you wouldn't know, because you weren't born yet. But I saw them. They behaved like monsters at certain times. They played silly, acted naughty and talked nasty when things got giddy.

For example, one earned the name "ncompetent'.
While the other was christened 'king Promise.'

At the inauguration of the NDC’s 2020 campaign team on Wednesday 8, July 2020, Mr. Mahama stated, it was unfortunate that many government officials are battling with the virus and wished them a speedy recovery.

“Today, our COVID-19 numbers are going up.
Many of our colleagues that we know have been stated to be positive and we all pray that they are safe and that nothing untoward happens to them.

“My understanding is that the President himself has isolated himself because he came into contact with somebody who has COVID-19. I pray nothing untoward happens to him,” John Mahama stated.

Yes, he did that. And I'm sure he meant it. So don't get it twisted until they themselves get it twisted.Don't you know you've got a lot do?

Reports on COVID-19
According to him, latest reports suggest that the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Professor Opoku-Amankwa is a member of an 11-member committee chaired by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo design modalities aimed at reopening schools is one of five members to have tested positive for the virus.

Already, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu and the Education Minister, Mathew Opoku-Prempeh have both just recently recovered from the virus.

That's not all, reports have it that at least three other top officials have confirmed positive for the virus.

Mr. Mahama urged all Ghanaians to stay safe and adhere strictly to safety protocols as the country battles the rampaging virus.

“I call on all Ghanaians registering, not only our party members to observe the protocol. Please wear your mask. And please, even when you are outside of the polling station keep safe distances from each other so that we do not spread the infection further. Wash your hands with running water, sanitise your hands as frequently as possible with sanitiser and please take all efforts to stay safe,” he urged.

He added: “It is my hope that this registration exercise will end successfully and that all of us who are coming out to register will remain safe and not be infected by COVID-19.”

Nice talk isn't it? But don't forget we're in a crucial season-' election 2020 is fast approaching. I can bet my last dime on this: The warthogs will resume their fight. Decorum will be pushed to the back burner. Would niceties continue to bloom?
