The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has lamented over the high infections of Covid-19 among health workers as he takes a swipe at H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

At a joint press conference in Accra today by the Health Sector Worker Unions, they have revealed that a total of 779 Health workers have been infected with COVID-19.

According to the group, the number consists of 190 doctors, 410 nurses, and midwives, 23 hospital pharmacists, as well as 156 Allied Health workers. Out of that number, 9 of the infected persons have sadly passed away in the line of duty.

Commenting on a post on Twitter, Sammy Gyamfi has attributed the infections among the health workers to what he describes as insensitive and poor leaders by President Nana Addo.

“The high COVID-19 infections among Ghanaian health workers is a direct product of the insensitive decisions and poor leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo”, the NDC Nations Communications Officer said.

He added, “My heart bleeds for our patriotic health workers who are sacrificing their lives to keep us safe. Let’s remember them in our prayers”.

As of Thursday, July 9, 2020, Ghana’s Covid-19 count is close to 23,000 with a death toll of 129 and a total of 17,564 recoveries.
