By Erastus Asare-Donkor

The Assemblies of God Ghana, has reacted to a publication in the P & P news paper dated July 13-16 2006 that one of its ministers in Kumasi has married five women.

In a press release to refute the allegation it said the claim by one Evangelist Prophet David Paul Ofori Asante that he is an Assemblies of God Minister at Delight Assemblies of God Church at Apemso is false. The release stated categorically that Prophet Asante is not an Assemblies of God Minister and neither has he ever been an Assemblies of God Church Member.

It continued that through the church's own investigation it has learnt that Prophet Ofori Asante joined the church in August last year during a fasting and prayer programme. It said it was during that time that he allegedly stole a complimentary card belonging to Reverend Felix Adoo Pambour of the Delight Chapel Assemblies of God Church at Apemso Apiadu and duplicated it.

According to the release Prophet Ofori Asante was expelled from the church after the two weeks when his character was found to be dubious. He was later seen operating a prayer camp within the same vicinity some time later. Rev. Patrick Agyemang Gyasi, the acting Regional Secretary of the Assemblies of God Church signed the release.
