The leadership of the NDC Proforum-USA wishes to congratulate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on her nomination as the running-mate for President John Mahama. We also salute the other equally capable contenders who, recognizing the enormous national task ahead, availed themselves to pair-up with our party’s flag-bearer to salvage our dear country from the claws of the treacherous Akufo-Addo government.
Considering the set of proficient candidates our flag-bearer had to choose his running mate from, NDC Proforum-USA wish to applaud President Mahama for his choice. We further extend our gratitude to the Council of Elders of the great ‘Akatamanso’ family for their endorsement and respect for the wisdom of our leader to opt for a female running mate.
The NDC Proforum and indeed the diaspora community deem Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s elevation as not only a plus to gender parity in Ghana’s body politics, but a bold statement to the electorates, of the task ahead of President Mahama to restore the transformational agenda of our dear republic come 2020.
As a professional wing of the great NDC, we are certain that Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang, as the leader of the economic management team in a post-COVID-19 Ghana, will utilize her vast experience in education to propel a massive economic growth. Ghana’s transformational agenda had positioned education as a pivot of the economy until the ‘con-gang’ of Akufo-Addo disrupted the gains made by our peerless Professor-running-mate who was the Education Minister in the last NDC government.
We call for sustained support from the rank and file of the NDC grassroots for the John Mahama-Naana Opoku-Agyemang ticket for election 2020. The enormous task ahead after victory and subsequently navigating a developing country like Ghana needs someone in the caliber of Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman to supervise Ghana’s economic recovery which focuses on the provision of facilities expected to improve the number of trained teachers, survival rates, reducing pupil-teacher ratios, schooling life expectancy and performance levels to ensure a solid and refined labour force which includes dedicated health professionals who will cater for the citizenry and particularly our labour force to, stimulate economic growth.
To the detractors of the NDC agenda, the NDC Proforum wish to emphasize that the task ahead of our dear country is not a ‘con-game’ and the manipulation of figures. We need a visionary government with leaders who understand economic trends and the premium on human resource development.
We are certain that His Excellency John Mahama’s choice of a female Vice President and a nonpareil educationist in the make of Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang chairing economic management meetings, would better appreciate the interaction effect of government expenditure on education quality as acclaimed to be momentous for economic growth. Already education and other social intervention programmes account for more than 50 percent of budget expenditure and you need someone who understands the dynamics of the sector to supervise and ensure judicious use of resources.
We as professionals in the diaspora applaud and will provide the “Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang” campaign, every intellectual and logistical support they need. We are certain it takes a practical grassroots person like ‘’Mama Jane” to pair “JM” to rescue Ghana from this economic quagmire.
God bless our homeland…
