A man in his early 30's who is alleged to have used the name of Kapital Radio to defraud a number of people in the metropolis, has been arrested by the police in Kumasi.

Atta Agyapong, who holds himself out as a freelance journalist and a Kapital Radio reporter was arrested by the Manhyia Police for allegedly defrauding about eight people to the tune of over 350 million cedis under the pretence of securing traveling visas for them.

Atta Agyapong, a resident of Dichemso was arrested about two days ago when four people made a case of fraud against him. The Regional Police Command Public Relations outfit confirmed that they were investigating a case of fraud against Atta Agyapong.

A source at the Manhyia police hinted Kapital news that Atta Agyapong in his caution statement disclosed that he was once working as a reporter for Kapital radio but is now a freelance journalist. A search conducted on him revealed some fake passports, press identification cards and visa acquisition posters.

Some of his alleged victims claim he even posed as a secretary to Otumfuo and convinced them he could secure an interview free traveling visas for them.

Meanwhile, a Kumasi based business man, Mr Kwame Owusu who deals in used clothing's from London, was at the police station in connection with an armed robbery attack on him earlier this year by a gang which took away all his traveling documents and some undisclosed amount of money.

He told Kapital News that two people have hinted that Atta Agyapong who is a co-tenant allegedly conspired with some unscrupulous people to engage in the alleged robbery act. According to him, Atta Agyapong has promised to return his passport together with some of his personal documents which were stolen.
