Parents have been reminded of the vital role they have to play in shaping the behaviour and performance of their wards in school.

Mr Samuel Quaye, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman of Akim State College at Akyem Oda gave the reminder at a PTA meeting of the school on Saturday.

He said children were increasingly being exposed to the intensive and penetrating influence of the mass media adding that most of the moral problems facing the youth may be attributed to the undesirable exposure to crimes and immorality by the media.

Mr Quaye therefore urged parents to protect and guard their wards against those influences.

He advised parents against giving too much 'pocket money' to their wards so as not to undermine discipline in schools.

Nana Yaw Asare Dzikunu, Director of the school cautioned parents not to purchase mobile phones for their wards since they could use such phones to indulge in vices.

He advised parents to instil discipline in their children and not to pamper them adding that the nation needed students who were dedicated, well disciplined and who were prepared at all times to serve the nation.

Nana Dzikunu appealed to parents to pay their wards school fees on time to enable the school to continue to provide quality education for students.
