Twelve communities in the Wassa Amenfi West district in the Western Region would be connected to the national grid under the third phase of the Self Help Electrification Programme, the District Chief Executive, Mr Alberto Tekyi, has said.

He told the Ghana News Agency during inspection of work in some of the beneficiary communities that some 500 households would be provided with electricity by the end of the programme.

He mentioned Bonsie, Kweku-Buah, Amoada, Daboase, Manso-Nkwanta No.1, Manso-Nkwanta No.2, Sompre and Sompre-junction, Akatrika, Beposo, Kofi-Gyan and Kweikrom as the beneficiary communities.

Mr Terkyi said the contractor working on the project had taken delivery of 268 electricity meters from the Electricity Company of Ghana and expressed hope that more would be supplied on time to ensure timely completion of the project.

He appealed to the people for co-operation to ensure the early completion of the programme to enhance their socio-economic activities.
