CityLink, a domestic airline has explained circumstances which led to one of their flights skidding off the runway at the Kumasi Airport on Saturday.

About 17 passengers, waiting for the flight back to Accra, went into a state of anxiety when the plane touched down and skidded off into the bushes at the Kumasi Airport last week.

Most travellers have since raised concerns about the safety of domestic air flights after the scary incident in the Ashanti Region.

In an interview with CITI NEWS, Marketing and Publicity Manager, Mr Paa Kwesi Plange stated that the commotion occurred when the plane encountered a flat tyre on its way to Accra.

He insisted that the Civil Aviation Authority has branded the aircraft fit for use after intensive checks were conducted on it on Tuesday.

"The Civil Aviation finished intensive checks on the plane today and it has been certified as fit to fly. In fact we had flights to Kumasi and Tamale today", he said.

"It was just a nail that caused the flat tyre and there is no cause for alarm", he added.

CityLink was founded by CTK Network Aviation, based in Accra and has been in the aviation industry in West-Africa for more than 10 years.
