Dr John Koku Awoonor, Nkwanta District Director of Health has said one way of winning the war against filth and environmental pollution was to infuse in children good sanitation practices.

He said it would be easier to inculcate in the kids good sanitation in schools, homes, playgrounds, churches and other public places to complement national campaigns to improve the environment.

Dr Awoonor said this at the launch of Nkwanta District Schools Health Week at Nkwanta on Monday. It was under the theme: "Knowledge and Understanding Leads to behavioural Change which results in good health".

Dr Awoonor said the primary promoter of health is the household. "Good health starts from home," he added.

Rev. Ernest Gaewu, Nkwanta District Director of Education, urged Health Coordinators in the various schools to intensify education on sanitation.

The launch was preceded by procession through the town with placards some of which read: "Keep Your Environment Clean," "Malaria Infection Leads to Poverty," "Destroy Homes of Mosquitoes," and " Good Health, Our Future".
