The Electoral Commission says the purpose for which the national voters register will be reopen for inspection next Sunday for a week, is to, among others, update the register and know the exact number of eligible registered voters there are in Ghana.
The last update revealed that there were close to 10 million voters and the recent registration exercise indicates there is a little over 700 hundred thousand new voters. The EC says it has become important to exhibit the register this month so as to allow ample time for the Electoral Commission to prepare and hold the all important general elections in 2yrs.
The Public Relations Director of the EC, Mr. Sam Yorke Aidoo told citinews that there were a few anomalies and this is the time to rectify all problems associated with the register.
Mr. Aidoo said it is possible that some data could be omitted all together and there is a provision for inclusion so as to rectify the problem.
