C'Wealth Hall Launches Golden Jubilee Activities PDF

The Golden Jubilee celebration of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana Legon, was launched in Accra on Saturday with the theme: “Fifty years of solidarity and human resource development in Ghana.”

Activities lined up for the celebration include a TV documentary on the hall commemoration of , special days such as 'American Day,' float, fun games and Awards and a Dinner Dance .

Launching the event, Nana Akuoko Sarpong, Omanhene of Agogo Traditional Area, said the 50th anniversary celebration was a great occasion and entreated all alumni to fully participate.

He said, the history of the Commonwealth Hall was part of the larger history of university education in the country and therefore was linked to some of the major landmarks in the foundation of the nation of Ghana.

“It also represents the defining moments in the quest for freedom and democracy after centuries of slavery and colonialism.”

Nana Akuoko Sarpong, himself an alumni of the hall, said Commonwealth has over the years grown into a community with shared believes and interest which have shaped the distinctive character of its alumni.

To ensure a successful and eventful anniversary all alumni have been levied a minimum contribution of ў1million.

Two underground water reservoirs provided by the alumni at the cost of ў300 million were inaugurated as part of the launching ceremony.
