Ghana defender, John Mensah has claimed that Reading have made a bid to Rennes for his services.
The 23-year-old player enjoyed an excellent World Cup campaign for the Black Stars, with a series of powerful displays attracting attention from The Premiership.
Reading are eager to add to their ranks as they prepare for life in the top flight for the first time and it is Mensah who is believed to top their wish-list.
Reports have suggested it would take in the region of £4 million for Rennes to allow the player's sale, with Mensah conceding he is weighing up a move to The Royals.
''I am aware of this offer,'' he told the News of the World.
''It's always interesting to be contacted by a Premiership club. We will see.''
