THE assemblyman for the Osu Doku Electoral area of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Emmanuel Norteye Adumuah, has said that plans are far advanced to construct a modern community library to replace the old children's library built over 50 years ago.

Speaking to the Times, Mr. Adumuah noted that, a community library has been his cherished dream even before he became the assemblyman, and he is therefore doing everything possible to realize this dream.

He said the single room children's library, has not seen any expansion and can therefore accommodate only a few children.

He said even though he had received books and other educational materials on three occasions from organiza-tions, the library lacks space to contain them.

He said that the drawings for a modern two-storey library was ready with facilities for both children and adult patrons as well as computer and conference rooms.

Mr. Adumuah said he was in touch with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the Ghana Library Board, the Metropolitan Education Department, some business institutions and opinion leaders with the view to constitute a consortium to facilitate the building of the library.

He expressed his gratitude to Nii Nortey Adjovi, the Osu-Ashante Dzasetse, the Rotary Club of Osu R.E and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency for generously donating books and other teaching and learning materials for the library.
