Open letter to Honourable Members of Parliament of Ghana

Feature Article Open letter to Honourable Members of Parliament of Ghana
JUN 8, 2020 LISTEN

Dear Honourable Members of Parliament,

Kindly permit me to take this opportunity to thank you for all the sacrifices you are making for Mother Ghana and draw your attention to the major cause of the deadly exploitation, abject poverty, slavery and misery that many Ghanaians are inflicted with.

Indeed, it is an undeniable fact that by God's grace, Ghana has all that it takes to be a super power, to be a nation whose citizens have access to at least all the basic necessities of life.

America and Europe have reached where they are today partly because of what they managed to get and continue to get from Ghana and Africa as a whole. In view of this very fact, morally, they feel compelled to assist us financially.

unfortunately, in spite of our huge human and natural resources, Ghana has become a beggar and heavily depending on the white race for her very survival.

Honourable Members of Parliament, excuse my boldness, but in all humility, kindly permit me to make it known to you that I have keenly followed the politics of Ghana for the past thirty-four years and I have come to realise that the major cause of Ghana's underdevelopment is the citizen's inability to hold the ruling government accountable for its stewardship.

Even when the Auditor General presents its reports on how Ghana's funds have been managed by government officials and heads of other institutions, nobody takes them seriously. We all let sleeping dogs lie. Hence, some people come into government, take advantage of the citizens' inability to hold the running government accountable and hijack the nation to their own benefits.

The said hijackers embark on extreme greed and selfishness, living majority of the citizens to wallow in deadly exploitation, abject poverty, slavery and misery.

The hijackers behave as if the national cake was baked for them alone. And surely this behaviour is the main reason why Ghana is now confronted with a cycle of deadly exploitation, abject poverty, slavery and misery.

Because of the hijackers' activities of extreme greed and selfishness, even when Ghana gets foreign aid in a form of cash, in most cases, our nation becomes a bottomless pit. Consequently, Ghana becomes a nation that has the burden of always going to fetch water with a basket.

As Ghana's lawmakers, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that your role as lawmakers, is meaningless unless it is geared towards the total liberation of Ghana from deadly exploitation, abject poverty, slavery and misery. I believe such a move will enable Ghana to be truly independent and well respected within the Nations of the world.

Honourable Members of Parliament, in the light of the above attention, kindly permit me to reveal to you that the most important law that Ghana needs today is, a law to compel every ruling government to account for every pesewa that it receives on behalf of Ghana.

The said account should be audited by the Auditor-General before it is presented for public consumption. The account should be made every year and it should be discussed in every village, town and city so that the citizens can know how their funds have been managed by the ruling government.

In its fourth term in office, the sitting government should present its audited accounts three months before the general election. Such a move will enable the citizens to have enough time to examine the faithfulness of the ruling government and also make an informed choice when they go to the polls to vote.

Parliament should make sure that the office of the Auditor-General is well resourced to carry its function without any problem. Every district should have audit office to facilitate the work of the Auditor-General.

I pray and hope that the Holy Spirit will lead our Honourable Members of Parliament to make the said law and that all Ghanaians will receive the Spirit of courage to make sure that the said law is made and enforced to liberate Ghana from the cycle of deadly exploitation, abject poverty, slavery and misery.

Long Live Mother Ghana.

Thanks.
