A total of 51 women will be contesting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming parliamentary primaries in constituencies where it has sitting Members of Parliament.

The primaries will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, on an electoral area basis per the Electoral Commission's designation.

Addressing a press conference on Monday morning, the NPP General Secretary, Mr John Boadu confirmed the list of candidates for the June 20 contest.

In outlining the guidelines for the conduct of the party’s 2020 parliamentary primaries, he said the polls would be conducted in the 168 Constituencies where the NPP has sitting Members of Parliaments (MPs) to elect Parliamentary Candidates for the 2020 General Elections.

Of the country’s 16 regions, the 51 come from 14. The Volta and Ahafo Regions do not have any females contesting in the June 20 primaries.
