Is Mr. Nartey Now Realizing His Naivety and Stupidity?

I read the news article captioned “Mahama Rejected Me, He Didn’t Give Me 1 Pesewa – Sam George” (PeaceFM.com / Ghanaweb.com 5/26/20) and could not help but laugh myself hoarse. First of all, if he had readily realized that he was merely endangering himself politically and his chances for reelection in the upcoming 2020 General Election, and also for being the traitorous brat and an unsavory political scam-artist that he has veritably shown himself to be, the National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, in the Greater-Accra Region, would not have rushed into granting the interview that he recently granted the PeaceFM Radio Station.

As I vividly recall, and I may have belatedly espied the game, the then-President John Dramani Mahama roundly rejected this extremely overweight and uncouth rural Accra street urchin, when Mr. Samuel George Nartey stood on his party’s annual convention platform in Kumasi, the Asante Regional Capital, and savagely lambasted the wheelchair-bound Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet for having dared to bitterly complain on the same platform or podium that the Mahama-led regime of the National Democratic Congress had so recklessly run Ghana’s economy aground that it was only the top-echelon operatives of the NDC who had the means to profligately celebrate the Yuletide festivities by orgiastically exchanging gifts on the aforesaid NDC’s party convention floor.

This was very likely in December of 2015 or thereabouts. The entire scenario was rather inexcusably scandalous and insulting to the intelligence of the globally acknowledged polite Ghanaian society and citizenry. It was also clear that what had raised the hackles of this rambunctious butterball popularly known as Sam George, was the fact that Mr. Greenstreet, who was at the time the Presidential Candidate of the rump-Convention People’s Party (r-CPP), had also dared to remark that he was absolutely unaware of any meaningful development projects that the Mahama regime had lifted off the national geographical landscape.

Mr. Nartey, who had at the time been styling himself as a Mahama Presidential Staffer, that was how extremely cheap it was to be named a Mahama Presidential Staffer, and who promptly took over the convention microphones immediately after Mr. Greenstreet had delivered his withering but practically realistic convention address, caustically lit into the specially invited Candidate Greenstreet by mockingly asserting, to the raucous delight and guffaws of the heavily packed floor of convention delegates, that if the rump-Convention People’s Party’s Presidential Candidate were not wheelchair bound, Mr. Greenstreet would readily have noticed the teeming architectural landmarks and wonders that his then-paymaster had raised on Ghana’s geographical landscape.

“Ivor Greenstreet needs to get out of his wheelchair in order to be able to see the breathtaking achievements of President John Mahama all over the land,” Sam George was seen and heard to pontifically declare. You see, what was at once even more shocking and scandalous here was the fact that the then-President John Dramani Mahama clearly seemed to be enjoying this most depraved and insensitive jibe at Mr. Greenstreet. Fortunately, this would all quickly change once a firestorm of national disdain and protest began to gather on Ghana’s national political landscape about a week or so later, causing Mr. Mahama to publicly emerge out of the proverbial woodwork to promptly dissociate himself from the malicious comments of Sam George, as Mr. Nartey was and is still popularly called.

Even then, Mr. Mahama did not condemn the rather uncharitable and morally opprobrious insult volleyed by his lapdog against Mr. Greenstreet, which clearly meant that at least in principle, the infamous Rawlings’ Shit-Bomber was on the same playbook page with his desperate attention-seeking hanger-on. The Bole-Bamboi, Savannah Region, native would later claim that Mr. Nartey was after, not even a Presidential Staffer at the Flagstaff House, as the operatives of the Rawlings-fangled National Democratic Congress preferred to call the John Agyekum-Kufuor-erected and the government of India-underwritten Jubilee House. If, indeed, former President Mahama never gave Mr. Nartey even one pesewa from out the European Airbus SE Payola Scam-Artist’s own pocket, then the man who is now playing himself off as a veritable victim of Mr. Mahama’s political opportunism may very well deserve his comeuppance.

But what is rather bizarre here is the fact that although Mr. Nartey pontifically claims that his putative former boss had had absolutely no use for him whatsoever, nevertheless, Mr. Nartey still just recently found it necessary in his heart to go to bat for his most ungrateful political principal by flagrantly and criminally attempting to stop a legitimately scheduled voter-registration workshop that was to take place at a locally renowned hotel in his Ningo-Prampram constituency. The workshop, of course, did go on under heavy cover of national security protection. Something clearly does not add up here, as New Yorkers are wont to say. In short, either Sam George is conveniently economizing with the truth or this clearly emotionally distraught sometime Mahama lackey is in dire need of immediate psychiatric examination.

It is also clear, in retrospect, that Sam George had been playing Iago to ET Mensah’s Othello – my profound apologies to Mr. William Shakespeare – long before the former Mayor of the Greater-Accra Metropolis came to a tragic and belated realization of the same. What a tearless pity!
