Covid-19: Ghanaians Are Now Buying More Food - Farmer

General News Covid-19: Ghanaians Are Now Buying More Food - Farmer
MAY 15, 2020 LISTEN

Speaking in an interview at Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Mr Afari said, although the rains were not coming as expected, farming was going on and the good prices of farm produce was encouraging farmers to expand their farms.

He said most of the farming communities were not affected by the covid-19 lockdown directives by the President and were going to their farms.

Mr Afari explained that due to the virus, most people preferred to buy farm produce in excess to cook to feed their families rather than buying already cooked food from outside.

Many people are now working from home and could afford the time to cook their own food.

He said although he planted for his family and few friends, the covid-19 season had enabled him to generate a new income from the sale of his farm produce to replace the income that he lost from his Mason work as a result of the Covid-19.

Mr Afari plants maize, plantain, cassava and oranges.
