The Sunyani West Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region is enforcing the use of nose masks in the municipality to prevent a possible spread of the coronavirus.

The move comes after Jaman North District in the region confirmed one positive case of the virus, causing fear and panic among residents in the Region.

In that regard, Mr. Martin Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly and the COVID-19 Rapid Response Team in the municipality distributed nose masks to residents who were engaged in various economic activities in Odomase and Fiapre.

Addressing the people, the MCE said the use of the nose masks was now compulsory and advised residents to continue to adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols — social distancing, regular hand washing, and frequently use hand sanitizers.

Mr. Martin Obeng commended the market women and other residents who were already using nose masks and urged them to continue the practice until the pandemic is over.

Residents of Odumase and Fiapre who received the nose masks applauded the government for the preventive measures being put in place to save lives.

The items distributed were Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) received from the Ministry of Local Government through the Bono Regional Co-Coordinating Council.

They include 2000 Nose mask, 5 boxes of sensitizers, 10 Infrared thermometer guns, 1 bail of nose mask material, 50 Dustbins 240 of liters, and 40 Dustbins of 20 liters.
