CREME-DE-LA-CREME OF MUSIC INDUSTRY CELEBRATE EASTER SUNDAY AT KUMASI

09.04.2012 LISTEN

Easter Sunday (& early Monday too), was a blast in Kumasi the Ashanti regional capital as Ghana literally moved to Kumasi.

Though there were many programmes staging in Kumasi, the boiling pot was the Royal Lamerta Hotel where Sarkodie's Rapperholic concert rocked.

The programme which started quite early run till approximately 3 O'clock Monday morning.

Highlights of the show included performances from Guru, Stay Jay, Racquel, Efyah, Keche, Awal, D-Cryme and the crème-de-la-crème of the Ghanaian music industry.

These stars got funs dancing and screaming in excitement as they did what they do best.

The avalanche of people who thronged the venue were obviously surprised when Obrafour showed up alongside Sarkodie on stage at the Royal Lamerta Hotel when he was in fact expected at the Obrafour and Friends show – another programme that received a lot of hype before yesterday at the Yegoala Hotel.

Many people who bought tickets for Obrafour's show, expressed disappointment at the turn of events regarding that show.

Focus FM, the KNUST based radio station, hyped both programmes extensively. As to why one was a major success and the other not so successful, Kwame Poku (DJ Scientific), programmes manager of Focus FM, says he thinks the two programmes should not have been held on the same day since they both drew the same kind of crowd.

He hopes event organizers will learn from some of these set-backs. He discouraged such unhealthy competition among event managers citing instances where goons from both camps defaced each other's posters.
