Musiga names 75 Artistes for Ghana Music & Food Festival

The Musicians Union of Ghana (Musiga) has announced 75 musicians confirmed to perform at the maiden edition of the Ghana Music and Food Fair scheduled for the Trade Fair Center on Saturday, October 29, 2011. This was disclosed by Mrs. Deborah Freeman. General Secretary of the Union on Wednesday October 26, 2011. This event is part of a 3-day event organized by Konsule Entertainment between October 28 and 29, 2011.

The names were drawn from various genres of music including Gospel, highlife, Hiplife and reggae.

According to A-Plus, ceo of Konsule Entertainment, organisers of the event, "the three main stages to host over 100 expected musicians [simultaneously] on the Saturday event will be managed by MUSIGA".


The following Gospel artistes have confirmed to perform on the first stage- Kofi (of TV3 Mentor fame), Lady Prempeh, Selina Boateng, Abawa Connie, Andy Frimpong-Manso,Osei Kwame Eric, Grace Ashy, Erico and Lizzy Okrah. Princess Ivy, Bernice Ansah, Martin Hayford, Ohemaa Mercy, Josh Laryeh, Noble Nketsiah, D.S.P Kofi Sarpong, Nana Perbi and Mary Ghansah are also scheduled to be on the sacred stage. The remaining artistes on the gospel stage are Gifty Osei, Piesie Esther, O.J, Tagoe Sisters, Georgina Adjei, Mark Anim, Cecy Twum and Francis Amoh.

Confirmed for the highlife stage are A.B. Crentsil, Rex Omar, Nana Tuffour, Paapa Yankson, Paulina Oduro, Dr.Paa Bobo, Ben Brako, Felix Owusu, Bessa Simons, Kwesi Pee and Nana Ampadu. Leader of the all-female group Della Hayes will join the following artistes on the highlife stage- George Darko, Nana Aboagye Dacoster, Thomas Frimpong, Nana Acheampong and King David. At the time of going to press, Ako Nana and K.K. Fosu were yet to confirm.

Reggae musicians confirmed for the joint hiplife-reggae stage are Samini, Ras Appiah Levi, Ras Kobi, Chizzy Wailer, Blakk Rasta, President Khex Pongo, Serges Kassy, Rasta Revolution, Elvis B, Ras Manlenze, Ras Chaplain, Golden Street Band and Hope of Africa.

So far, the following hiplife artistes are confirmed: Richie, 2 Toff, Ziggy, Atumpan, D-Cryme, Borax, Tic Tac, Obrafour, Ruff & Smooth, Tinny, A-Plus, Mzbel, Ayigbe Edem, Nana Boro and S.K. Blinks.
