Ghana Fashion Week is Gonna Rock!

By Written by Ameyaw Debrah - Jamati

The glitz and glamour in Ghana's fashion world would reach an exciting pinnacle with the upcoming Exopa Ghana Fashion Week starting June 27- July 1. The purpose of this Fashion Week is to bring other talented African designers closer for the pursuit of the exploration of ideas, and creating network amongst African designers. In addition to Ghanaian fashion designers, other designers from Togo, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon and Nigeria are expected to bring onboard their unique tailoring skills during the event.

According to Sima Ibrahim, CEO of Exopa Model Agency, the fashion week will also unearth the creative genius of young up-and-coming designers. He says that some of the designers in this year's fashion week are relatively unknown to the Ghanaian public and that it was his distinct pleasure to provide a platform for these extremely talented young designers to showcase their works to the rest of the world, alongside some of the best designers that Africa has to offer.

The start-off events will include a reception and a pre-event cocktail at the TV3 premises after which guests will be ushered into an hour-long live production that will feature designer's looks, modeled by Exopa models. The Holiday Inn Hotel pool side will host another magnificent runway show which will be telecast live on Metro TV on June 28. Exopa Burg, which is an ultra modern facility built by exopa for training of wannabe models, will host audiences to yet another glittering runway show on June 29. This event will also be supported by various acts from Ghana and a dance show featuring a dance troupe from Germany.

The fashion week will also be stringed with scores of exciting parties at various hot venues in Accra and Tema, not forgetting those hot and sexy GOGO dancers who will surely bring on the heat. The Fashion Week will be sealed off with a football tournament on July 1. Sima has also hinted that later in the year, Exopa plans to host a special Plus-size fashion week for oversized models as well as models shorter than 5 feet. Sima, a former model himself, is excited about the opportunities that the Ghana Fashion Week would give to his models as well as the designers partaking in the event. Even Kwaw Kesse will hit the runway. What more can you ask for? Certainly, the fashion week is gonna rock!
