NCCE Officials Storm Shrines With COVID-19 Education

The Keta Directorate of the National Commission for Civic (NCCE) has taken its public education campaign to worshippers in some traditional shrines, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.

The adherents are usually engaged with routine drumming, dancing and ritual performances without adhering to COVID-19 preventive protocols of wearing of nose masks, social distancing and handwashing with soap under running water.

Markets Disinfections Contributing To Low Covid-19 Infections In North East – Minister

The North East Regional Minister, Solomon Namliit Boar, has hailed the ongoing mass disinfections of markets in the North-East Region.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at the forecourt of the North East Regional Coordinating Council ahead of the commencement of the phase two of the markets disinfections exercise in North East, the Minister said the mass disinfections have been really helpful as far as controlling the spread of coronavirus in the region is concerned.

Public loses faith in governments as Covid-19 infections spread

The world has set a new record for the highest daily increase in coronavirus infections, as a survey released Saturday showed governments are fast losing support for their handling of the pandemic.

There were more than 280,000 new cases recorded globally on both Thursday and Friday, the highest daily rises since the virus emerged in China late last year.

France singles out 30 million priority citizens for Covid-19 vaccine

France's Scientific Council is drawing up plans for some 30 million “high-risk” citizens who it says should be given priority access to any future coronavirus vaccine.

The council, which was created to advise the French government on its epidemic strategy, says priority groups must be targeted in anticipation of a vaccine being made available as early as the end of the year.

WHO reports biggest single-day rise in global Covid-19 infections since pandemic started

The World Health Organization has recorded the highest increase in global cases in a single day, with the United States and Brazil accounting for almost half of the 284,196 new infections.

The WHO reported 69,641 new cases in the US, 67,860 in Brazil, 49,310 in India and 13,104 in South Africa.

Yeji, Bono East: St. Mathias Catholic Hospital Closes Down Over COVID-19 Infections

The Management of the St. Mathias Catholic Hospital at Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region has temporarily closed down some Departments in the facility as some staff of the facility contracts COVID-19.

The following Departments at the facility including; the Out Patient Department(OPD), Antenatal Clinic, and Special Clinics have all been closed down for two weeks and would be revived as time goes on.

Upper East: All Covid-19 Patients Recovered, Discharged

Dr Josephat Nyuzaghl, the Upper East Deputy Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in charge of Public Health, has said all 279 COVID-19 patients in the Region have been treated and discharged from the various health facilities.

According to him, all COVID-19 patients had fully recovered, adding that “As we speak, we don't have any case in our treatment centre, there is no case that is currently being managed at home.”

France to test travellers from coronavirus high-risk countries

The French Prime Minister, Jean Castex, has announced that people arriving from 16 countries, including India, the USA and Brazil, will be required to undergo on-the-spot Covid-19 tests on landing in France.

 Along with the United States, India and Brazil, which are reporting tens of thousands of new cases each day, the countries include Algeria, Bahrain, Israel, South Africa, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Panama, Peru, Serbia, Turkey and Madagascar.

France prepares new Covid-19 measures as people fear 'second wave'

France has recorded more than 1,000 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours. As concern grows over the number of “hotspots” the government is to announce new measures on Friday to try and keep a potential second wave at bay.

While death rates and the numbers of hospitalised patients remain low in France, there is growing concern over the sharp rise in new cases.

Covid-19 Scare: Over 11, 000 Tourists Cancelled Trip To Ghana — Finance Minister

More than 11,000 tourists have cancelled their scheduled visit to Ghana because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance has said.

Presenting the 2020 mid-year budget review to Parliament, Mr Ofori-Atta said the cancellations led to a projected year-to-date revenue loss of GH¢4.8 million.

COVID-19: Ahafo Region Takes Its Turn Of 2nd Round Of National Disinfection

Markets in the Ahafo Region on Thursday 23 July 2020, had their turn of the ongoing nationwide disinfection and cleaning aimed at containing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

The two-day exercise, which will include a huge clean-up operation after the disinfection will cover 66 markets, 106 public toilets, and all the lorry stations in the region.
