COVID-19: 97 Health Workers In Ashanti Region Infected As Case Count Hits 2,403
The Ashanti Region has recorded 2,403 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease with health workers accounting for 97, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang, the Regional Director of Health Services, has announced.
Dr. Tinkorang who was giving a regional update of the pandemic at a media briefing on Wednesday said 778 had recovered, leaving 1,587 active cases with 38 deaths.

Health Ministry Receives Tobinco’s Hydroxychloroquine To Treat COVID-19 Patients
Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre, a leading producer of pharmaceutical products in West Africa and a member of the Tobinco Group of Companies has presented 1,000 courses of Hydroxychloroquine worth over GHS100,000 and 18,000 bottles of Foligrow to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The donation is aimed at supporting the government in the fight against CoVID-19 in the country. Hydroxychloroquine has been endorsed by WHO for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Covid‐19: Man Who Was Jailed For Defilment Tests Positive
Danaah Sulemana, 25, who was sentenced by Tamale Circuit Court to 10 years imprisonment for defiling a two-year old girl has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.
Danaah Sulemana, a driver's mate was arrested for defiling a two-year old girl at Kumbungu in the Northern region on June 2.

French government may extend Guiana and Mayotte Covid-19 state of emergency until October 30
The French parliament has put forward an amendment which would effectively extend the state of emergency due to the Covid-19 crisis until 30 October in the overseas territories of Guiana and Mayotte. This as the number of cases increased rapidly in the past week.
"The health crisis has deteriorated in Guiana and Mayotte, which could mean applying further administrative restrictions beyond 10 July," the amended law said.

Worshippers in Lagos forced to move elsewhere to pray after Covid-19 review
After a review of Covid-19 cases in Lagos, Nigeria's economic capital, Lagos State Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu said that houses of worship would remain closed until further notice.
“Due to the continuous increase of #COVID19 cases in our state, we have rescinded till further notice our earlier decision to open churches and mosques for worship,” he said in a tweet on Tuesday, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Several dozen groups of environmental activists blocked factories and sites of future Amazon warehouses across France on Wednesday in protests of what they called environmentally and socially harmful economic practices after the Covid epidemic.

Waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, which is leading the nationwide disinfection against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in educational institutions, has appealed to heads of basic schools to make themselves available for the exercise.
The Western Regional Manager, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Alhaji Abdulai, Abdallah, made the appeal during at the Queen of Peace Academy, which was among a cluster of schools disinfected in Anaj community in the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) in the Western Region.

Ahafo Regions Benefit From Disinfection Against COVID-19
Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Ahafo Region on Tuesday benefitted from the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and Zoomlion Ghana Limited disinfection programme against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The schools were Boakye Tromo Senior High Technical School, in the Tano-North District, Presbyterian Senior High School, Bechem, Bebusco SHS, Serwaa Kesse SHS, Duayaw Nkwanta, Bechem School for the Deaf and Blind, etc., all in the Ahafo Region.

COVID-19: PPE Shortage Hit Navrongo Prisons
Authorities at the Navrongo Prisons in the Upper East Region, say strict compliance of COVID-19 protocols by inmates become challenging due to shortage of Personal Protective Equipment coupled with congestion in the prison.
The Navrongo prison was built in 1925 by the Swiss to house 80 inmates for only Second and First-degree felony offenders but now houses 210 inmates sentenced for various offences.

French app StopCovid still facing hurdles amid EU concerns about data access
Since it was rolled out on 2 June, the StopCovid phone app, used to trace coronavirus infections has been downloaded 1.7 million times in France, representing approximately 2 percent of the population. The EU is concerned the way data is stored will be incompatible with other systems across the bloc, while closer to home, the issue of cost has been raised.
It has been a slow start for the StopCovid tracing app launched by the French government two weeks ago, in an effort to curb any further spread of the coronavirus. This as the country leans in to phase three of easing lockdown measures.
