The well-publicized Exopa Fashion Weekend hit the trail last Wednesday with lots of glamour and excitement at the Plenary Hall of the Accra International Conference Centre, where the opening ceremony of the four-day event attracted a number of industry players from both the local and international arena.
The event kicked off with an exhibition of fashion-related products and services; but the main opening ceremony was held later that evening, emceed by Blakkofe. This saw some dynamic and amazing performances from kids of the Exopa Burge Modeling School.
They opened the night with what is described as interesting styles and catwalks on the runway to the delight of fans and dignitaries including Hollywood Superstar Boris Kodjoe.
This was followed by elegant display of designs from some upcoming designers. Among them were works of Elimens Kollektion, Salimi Akill, Doreen Lartey and Dzidzienyo Klekleli. The rest were Rowena Adjivon, Kwame Gyamfi Wiafe and Bern Mensah.
The night was not without some raving musical performances as the Abodam crooner, Kwaw Kese and Sarkodie were there to do what they know doing best.
Sarkodie was the first to mount the runway to do his fast raps to the glee of all.
Having mesmerized the audience for some minutes, Kwaw had to end somewhere as his performance climaxed the night, which attracted a lot of paparazzi.
The four-day event is still ongoing. Yesterday, the modeling agency continued the exhibition on large scale. The entire event would be climaxed on Saturday with other interesting programmes.
The event is currently parading not less than 30 designers from around the globe, 40 Exopa models from Europe, the Americas, Asia plus 60 of the finest from Africa.
The Exopa Fashion Weekend 2009 seeks to explore, boost interest and showcase talents within the Ghanaian fashion industry and the world over.
The runway shows will be televised live from the Accra International Conference Centre on primetime slots each day on TV3. By Francis Addo
