Kojo Akoto Boateng, a co-morning show host on Citi FM, an Accra based radio station has revealed how his 2013 move from Ultimate Radio in Kumasi paved way for him to fulfil his love for radio.
Speaking on his motivation in life, Kojo said: he discovered very early in life that Ghana is a land of opportunities so he made a #move.
“My mum, Auntie Mother was very popular and influential textile trader around the Tech, Ayigya, Ayigya Zongo, Bomso, Akatego areas. She give her goods to people and agree weekly or monthly payment plans with them. Then she'd go round daily to collect her money. I made a lot of friends and business partners just by following my mum on her rounds.
Narrating how the trading business connects to his love for radio broadcasting, Akoto said “with time, I also ventured into selling bars of keysoap. From one bar of Key Soap, I moved to two, then three then boxes. With the proceeds from the business, I bought a PALITO radio receiver, which became my best friend then.
According to Akoto, that Palito radio receiver drew him closer to his current radio life.
Kojo started radio on KNUST campus with Focus FM where he worked as a Drive time host and hosted other entertainment related shows. Quite characteristic of all presenters at the station then, he worked under the name DJ X Ray and garnered a huge following.
He then joined the Imperial Broadcasting Company, Kapital Radio where he continued as a Drive Time host and later hosted Daybreak Kapital, the station’s flagship morning show.
