2014 Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam Highlights

Fashion Week Amsterdam 2014 has come and gone, but the memories linger. The event kicked off on August 29th, 2014 at the World Fashion Center in Amsterdam. Guests were able to enjoy numerous shows with bold African prints, cultural and colorful entertainment as well as celebrity hosts.

On the first day, designers from all parts of Africa showcased their brands at the catwalk show. Amanda Maandag of Dutch descent also used the golden opportunity to showcase her widely acclaimed brand, Nubian collection, the crown was amazed when one of the Netherlands's highly acclaimed model Leila Aigbedion took the stage for Nubian Collection .

It was indeed a beautiful event. AFWA is an event aimed at exhibiting the true beauty of African art, fashion, and couture to a European and global audience thereby promoting the intercultural romance between Africa and Netherlands.

Till date, this is acclaimed as the biggest African Fashion exhibition ever. The event also gave designers the privilege of expressing their creativity in a professional manner. Top African designer, Ms Diana Tambe is the creative director / founder of this awesome annual event.

Her vision was hailed by many top models, and African celebrities.

In attendance were many international designers from Tanzania, South Africa, New York, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, France, Gambia, Spain and many more. The AFWA is great platform for new and established designers to showcase their designs to a wide range of buyers, retailers, and clients. Veteran Nollywood actor, Ramsey Noah was the host of the amazing show. The event ended happily on August 31st, 2014.
