1 Kings 10:14-29
God is a God of purpose. Everything He has made has a divine purpose attached to it. That you don't know the purpose of God for a certain resource He has given to you does not mean it has no divine purpose. When the children of Israel were coming out of Egypt, the Lord asked them to demand gold from the Egyptians. The Egyptians gave them more than they asked for. Although one major reason why God allowed the Egyptians to be spoilt that much was because He wanted His children to receive the payment for many years of their labour.

The greater purpose for that plunder was for the building of the tabernacle in the wilderness and He would be placing a demand on their gold, silver and all they had to build the temple (Exo. 35:1-35). The children of Israel did not understand the divine purpose behind the gold so they produced a golden calf out of it and asked the calf to lead them back into Egypt.

If you don't understand God's intended purpose for all He has given you, those things have a very strong tendency to lead you back into Egypt. If you don't believe it, ask Solomon the son of David. The same gold, silver, riches and fame that God gave to him were his undoing. Not that those things were evil, but Solomon abused the purpose for which God gave them.

Some of the resources that God gives to us include:

1.          Anointing.      2.   Calling.       3. Position and influence.

4.          Possession.    5.   Money.       6. People.

Basically, God gives us resources first to fund our divine assignments, to meet life obligations and for our enjoyment. The Bible says that Solomon multiplied gold unto himself and also made gold to become as common stone in the street of Jerusalem (Exo. 32:1-6).

A major desire of your heart should be that God will help you continually to understand the purpose for the resources He is bringing into your hand and I pray for you that what is supposed to be a tool in your hands will not become a snare to your life in Jesus' name.

Prayer: Lord I pray that you will help me not to abuse the resources you have committed into my hand in Jesus' name.
