Christ is calling; the devil is calling. Whose call will you answer?

I. SON OF MAN, may grace and peace be multiplied to you and your household in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord. Today, we live in a world where multiple voices vie for our attention, seeking to influence our decisions and shape our destinies. Daily, you have calls either from friends or enemies. You might also have calls from those who want to pray with you or share God’s word with you, encourage or discourage you, heal your wounds, or give you bad news. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are constantly faced with a crucial choice: Whose call will we respond to? The call of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, or the call of the devil, our adversary and deceiver? Today, let us reflect on the significance of calls we receive and the choice to answer or decline them, as they all have eternal consequences. Remember that every call you answer is either from Christ Jesus or from the devil, and our response to it has its significance.

II. DAUGHTER OF ZION, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, extends an invitation to each of us, calling us to follow Him, to walk in His footsteps, and to live according to His will. This call is rooted in love, compassion, and a deep desire to see us experience the abundant life He came to give us. When Jesus calls, He calls us to repentance and transformation, discipleship and obedience, service and sacrifice. This year let us daily answer the calling of Jesus Christ and decline the calls from the devil. Let us leave behind our old lives, our sinful ways, and our selfish desires, and embrace a new life in Him. This year let us be conscious of the time we spend on calls. Let us reflect before we make that call. Are you calling through Christ Jesus or the devil? Are you calling to deliver Jesus Christ’s message or the devil’s message? What will be the impact on the receiver of your call today?

III. MY BELOVED SISTERS AND DEAR BROTHERS IN THE LORD, let us remember that the devil, our adversary, extends a call that is rooted in deception, manipulation, and a desire to destroy our lives and our relationship with God. When the devil calls, he calls us to rebel and disobey, to get involved in sin and wrongful addiction and lures us to embrace sinful habits, deceitfully building in us pride and self-centredness. The calls us to reject God's authority and disobey a lawful order. The devil calls us to ignore God’s commands and pursue our selfish desires. The devil calls to lead us into addictive and destructive behaviour patterns that lead to spiritual death and separation from God. The devil calls to motivate us to elevate ourselves above others and encourages us to seek our glory and live for our interests rather than for the sake of others. Whose call will you answer today?

IV. BRETHREN IN THE LORD, as we march through this year, let us not lose sight of the fact that we daily have a choice to either answer Jesus Christ’s call or that of the devil. Daily we will stand at the crossroads, faced with these two competing calls; we must make a choice. Whose call will we respond to? When we respond to the devil's call, we embark on a path of destruction, chaos, and spiritual death. We experience the consequences of sin, the pain of regret, and the despair of separation from God. When we respond to Jesus' call, we embark on a transformation, growth, and discipleship journey. We experience the joy of salvation, the peace of forgiveness, and the hope of eternal life. This is a DIVINE WARNING sent forth through the Authority and Power of Christ Jesus and served to the brethren through God's Vessel, Francis Ameyibor. Yes! Dear friends, the choice before us is clear. Will we respond to the call of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, or will we succumb to the deceptive call of the devil?

V. 2025 MY YEAR FOR MY STAR TO RISE FOR THE WORLD TO NOTICE — Let us heed the words of our Lord, who said, whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. May we choose wisely, may we choose Jesus, and may we experience the abundant life He came to give us.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we come before you today, acknowledging the competing calls seeking our attention. We pray for the discernment to distinguish between the voice of Jesus Christ and the voice of the devil. Please give us the courage to respond to your call, to follow your son, and to live according to your will. May we experience the joy of salvation, the peace of forgiveness, and the hope of eternal life. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
