Press on daily towards your mark

I. My Beloved Sisters and Dear Brothers in Christ, grace be unto you and your household. What is your goal? Where are you heading? How are you working towards attaining that goal? Are you satisfied with what you have achieved and, therefore, taking a rest? The Apostle Paul’s ministry life teaches us that, despite all his accomplishments, he did not consider himself to have already attained or been perfect. The moment you consider yourself to have attained or accomplished the task, that is the beginning of slagging. Paul said he should press on so that he would lay hold of that which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of. Brethren, we need to press on. We need to labour on it. We need to fight on despite the challenges. Don’t give up. Paul acknowledges that he has not yet attained perfection but strives for it. The goal is to win the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

II. Daughter of Zion don’t count yourself as having accomplished the task. You still have more work to do to make your marriage successful. You still have to adopt innovative ways to enhance your business operations. Explore new ways to do old things. But this is one thing I do: forget those things that are behind and reach forth to those that are before. There must be a departure from some old habits. There is a need to face the bullet to move forward. There is a need to forget past failures, hurt, disappointment, and the loss of loved ones, among others, to reach out to those things ahead of you. Drop the load, for it has retarded your progress. Leave that union and friendship; it is unprofitable. Paul forgets what is behind, letting go of past mistakes and failures. We must release the burdens of our past to move forward in our faith.

III. Son of Man the glory of the crown should encourage you to press on. The joy of accomplishing a successful task should motivate you to work hard. Always set your eyes on the ultimate goal. What is the prize before you? There is a prize for everything we do. Paul pressed on towards the mark for the prize of God's high calling in Christ Jesus. Paul presses on towards the mark, straining towards the goal. We must focus on the future and the promise of heaven, striving for spiritual growth. Don’t look at today, but look at tomorrow. The joy of tomorrow should encourage you to lay a solid foundation today. Where are you heading? Can you reach your target with the unnecessary burden you are carrying? Put away the mourning clothes to move forward. It is enough; you have slept enough, you have wept enough, and you cannot hold on forever. It is time to forget the past and move forward with zeal and determination.

IV. Precious in the Lord, let us press on towards the mark, forgetting what is behind and straining towards the goal. This month, let us find strength in Christ to persevere, knowing that our citizenship is in heaven and that we eagerly await our Saviour's return. Let us encourage each other to strive for spiritual growth, let us help others overcome past failures, and let us focus on the future goal of heaven. This is a DIVINE MYSTERY revealed through the Authority and Power of Christ Jesus and served to the brethren through God's Vessel Francis Ameyibor, Yes! Let us press on, even when the journey gets tough, and find strength in Christ to persevere. Let us move forward in faith, forgetting what is behind and straining towards the goal.

V. 2024 MY DIVINE YEAR TO WATCH AT ALL TIMES – Let us run the race of faith with perseverance and endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith.

PRAYER: Lord, help us to persevere in our faith and run the race set before us with endurance and hope through Jesus Christ's name – Amen!
