I. Daughter of Zion, grace be unto you through Christ Jesus name. Brethren, let us run with perseverance the race set before us. There are daily, weekly, and monthly races set before us. Are you in the right lane for the race today? Were you able to complete your race for yesterday? Therefore, seeing that we are also compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. As Christians, we have observers around, watching with keen interest as we run the race set before us. They want to know whether we are using corrupt means to win the race or depending on our God to see us through. The worldly observers are watching whether we will descend into the sinful pleasures of the world or whether we will walk the straight and narrow way of life.
II. Son of man as we walk and run the race of life, we are encouraged to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Is Christ still your measuring standard in life, or have you departed from the faith? We are encouraged to run the race set before us with perseverance. The Christian life is compared to a race, requiring effort, endurance, and perseverance. To win a race, we must consciously put in an effort, depending on the kind of race. It requires purposeful training, enduring hard times, denying oneself temporal enjoyment, and setting up for the race. To win the race, we must also be persistent and determined to go the extra mile, even if we are rejected. Even if the terrain is unfriendly and difficult, even if people around us are discouraging us, we must still persevere, knowing that God is with us.
III. My Beloved Sisters and Dear Brothers to win the race, we must also learn to lay aside hindrances. What are the hindrances to life you are encountering? How are you facing up to these hindrances? Remember that the Bible encourages us to lay aside sin and any other hindrance that slows us down in our race. Let's identify and confess our sins, seeking forgiveness and renewal.
Let us identify the problems of life. Let us identify things that easily draw us backward. Let us identify the unnecessary waste of life and drop them. Let us fix our eyes on the goal. As Christians, Jesus Christ is our only author and perfecter of our faith. Let us fix our eyes on Him, who endured the cross for our salvation. Is sinful pleasure worth the cost?
IV. Precious in the Lord, consider Jesus Christ’s example and the persecution He faced. We are encouraged to persevere, knowing that our struggle is not in vain. Let us run the race set before us with perseverance, fixing our eyes on Jesus. This is a DIVINE MYSTERY revealed through the Authority and Power of Christ Jesus and served to the brethren through God's Vessel Francis Ameyibor, Yes! May we lay aside hindrances, find strength in our Savior, and press on toward the goal of our upward call in Christ Jesus.
V. 2024 MY DIVINE YEAR TO WATCH AT ALL TIMES – Let us run the race of faith with perseverance and endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith.
PRAYER: Lord, help us to persevere in their faith and run the race set before us with endurance and hope through Jesus Christ name – Amen!
