I Can't Stop Sleeping In Class
I am a boy of 17 and in senior high school (SHS) Two. I always find myself sleeping in class.
Is it because I don’t have enough sleep at night?
Bedtime at my school is from 10:20 pm to 5:00am.
This means that I sleep for about six hours but I still doze in class.
I want to be active in class. Please, how can I control this habit?
Tetteh, Accra.
Dear Tetteh,
I am sure you are always sleeping in class because you don’t get enough rest during the day.
Plan your day in such a way that you can have enough sleep.
I don’t know your schedule at school but I know that in almost all boarding schools there is siesta after classes each day. I suggest you get some rest during that period before prep time .
At prep too do all that you are supposed to do so that when you get back to your dormitory you don’t waste you time in idle talk. Instead pack your books and get your uniforms ready for the next day then go straight to bed.
I am sure it is not against the laws of the school to go to bed before lights out so that you can have a restful night and be fresh the next morning for school.
Tetteh, if you follow these instructions you will have more than enough sleep and start your day well, refreshed. Also try as much as possible to take part in classroom activities.
