Who Are You Following?

Who Are You Following?
24.01.2019 LISTEN

There is no doubt about this popular saying that. “Show me your friend and I will show you your character”

Bishop David Abioye the Frist Vice President of WCI puts it this way “who you follow, determines what follows you”

Who is Your Life Coach?

There is nothing on this earth that has not been done. In short, there is nothing new under the sun. Perhaps you may say or think “I am doing something new” well, you are correct, it is new to you because you have added value to it.

But remember, you cannot just get up and say you have made all by yourself. There is nothing on this earth that can break the “law of partnership”. A good example is cited in the Good Books (the Bible) on the creation of Adam and Eve. God realized that Adam cannot survive alone therefore, he had to act quickly to form a bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.

Think of Abraham & Lot, Elijah & Elisha, Paul & Timothy just to mention a few. Looking at the examples cited, there is always a superior, a life coach. In Christendom, it is a fact that, “The anointing you respect, is the anointing you attract”

Now, Paul mentored Timothy into greatness. Who are you following? Who is begetting you? Under whose feet are you studying? Who is mentoring you?

If there is no one, then I am “afraid”. You cannot be an influential person and a good one of course, when you have not been coached.

As the year ends, note these:

You cannot command, unless you have been commanded.

You cannot teach, when you have not been taught.

You cannot lead, unless you have been led.

You cannot have authority, until you have been under authority.

I like the way the New Living Translations puts it in Mathew 8:9 “I know this because I am under authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I need to say, ‘Go’, and they go, or ‘Come’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this’ they do it”.

You may have power, you may be gifted, articulate, under doctrine but you cannot authorize. When you have authority, people become “afraid” of you because you have been delegated.

Who you follow have the moral responsibility to correct you or command you when you go wrong. Personally, I cannot imagine where I would be by now if I were not to be coached. You may be called to be a doctor, yet you need to contact those who are already ahead of you. Bishop David O. Oyedepo was called into ministry, yet he needed to contact others who were in ministry in order to enhance, fulfil and accomplish his assignment till date.

Word of caution, when you identify who God has tested, proven and have walked with He (God) to be your life coach, do not judge by his mistakes, but learn from his mistakes and become a better you.
