Coming up with the perfect hairstyle for your little girl can be a tasky affair.

You have to put into consideration the hair type of your daughter, the style that suits her and her patience when it comes to getting her hair done. Most of the times, little girls can be quite stubborn at the salon.

I get them though, we all went through those hair wars. Getting hair braided is a bit painful. That's why some parents resort to having their kids hair dreadlocked or shave it off. However, there are some hairdressers who are really good with kids. The trick is to go for the less intricate styles - something quick, cute and still stylish while being age appropriate.

The holiday season is just around the corner. This is the time most families decide to go on family vacations be it at the coast, abroad or even to the countryside. You don't want your little girl looking unkempt, always remember that how your child looks is a reflection of you. That said, when they close school, consider these cute holiday season hairstyles:

1. Three strand braids.
For braid styles, avoid bulky braid styles such as Salsa as they're not age appropriate. You should also go for pencil sized braids so that they're not too heavy or end up straining the hairline. Choosing too thin braids will mean your kid will be in the salon for a longer time which, if they're the cranky kind, you may wanna reconsider. Braids are also not for toddlers. This style would be perfect for kids from the age of 6/7 onwards.

2. This is a cute and simple style especially for the holiday season. Midway cornrows are quite trendy and I just love the simplicity of this style.

Note how the cornrows are medium sized and just enough.

3. If your child has dreadlocks, you can style them for the holidays, like going for this cute side swept style.

Feel free to add cute girly accessories like butterfly hairpins.

4. You can also braid her own hair into cornrows, without using braids, or using a thread.

For some flair, you could add a faux extension that's not too bulky. This style would look on older girls though, say age 10 onwards. You don't want your toddler looking like a small grown ass woman.

5. The simpler the hairstyle, the better really. Especially for the girls under 7 years.

This cornrow style for instance, is simply effortlessly cute.

6. Twist braids.
The length is just right and the size. The curly edges give the style a cute and age appropriate finish.

7. Lemonade braids hairstyle is the ultimate holiday season style for both adults and kids.

Try it and feel free to accessorize the braids with some beads. I like the idea of having one bead color to avoid looking too busy.

8. The half top bun style.

9. Lastly, if your child has soft and long hair,

you could simply avoid cornrows and braids and partition the hair into portions, tie the portions up with girly accessories and twist the remaining hair out. Easy peasy and cute! But, if your child hates having her hair combed, this may not go as planned. If so, you can go for either of the above styles.
