I am Ohemaa freestyle – Obaahemaa Ofosua Amoakoa I

Obaahemaa Ofosua Amoakoa I, queen mother of the Kwahuman Association of Minnesota, has stated in an interview that she is Obaahemaa “freestyle”.

“I am Obaahemaa freestyle.” She said, adding, “I will not be a sit-down queen mother and just a figure head, I will use my position to effect the needed change in the lives of those that need help.”

The Queen Mother, known in real life as Leticia Ofosua Asante alias Akono Akono Sweet Rajj, made this known in an interview with Favored RadioGH in Minnesota, USA.

She further reiterated that she will use her NGO; Favored Charity Foundation to pioneer mentorship programs, seminars, outreach and vocational activities for women and children in Ghana. She will also launch sponsorship programs that will support creative projects to unearth hidden talents among the youths in Ghana.

These exciting revelations came on the heels of the official inauguration of the Kwahuman Association of Minnesota; an internationally recognized association of the indigenes of Kwahuman in Minnesota on Saturday August 11.

The highly entertaining and colorful occasion was witnessed by several dignitaries that included Fred Ansong-Dwamena ( Okwahu United National President), Steve Darkwa (New York Kwahuman Vice President).

The rest were Mr. Edward Ocansey, President of the Ghanaian Association of Minnesota, Florence Nyarkoa Ofori( Executive Member of New York & National) and Mr. Daniel Ofori-Som (President of Akwapiman Association of Minnesota).

Also present to grace the occasion and enjoy the riveting culture of the Ghanaian people were the Mayor of Maplewood, Nora Slawik and Police Chief, Scott Nadeau.

One of the many highlights of the event was the outstanding display of the intriguing and inspiring culture of the Ghanaian heritage that enveloped the entire occasion.

The evening was also interlaced with can’t-wait- to continue traditional drumming and dancing by the energetic and dynamic members of Titambe West African Dance Ensemble of Minnesota .

Chiefs and Queen Mothers of the Ga Adangbe, Asanteman and Fanteman in Minnesota were cladded in their full regalia and splendor to the admiration of everyone present.

They were Mantse Nii Kpakpo Oti Ankrah I and Manye Naa Akleh Fofoi I (Ga Adangbe); King Nana Kwame Amponsah Bodom Kakabo I and Nanahemaa Agyekum Pinsan (Asanteman); and Nana Ninson I and Queen Mother Nana Aba Amokuma (Fanteman).

The inauguration ceremony, according to President of the Kwahuman Association of Minnesota; Mr. Isaac Sefah, begins the journey to foster unity, ignite purpose and create avenues to unveil opportunities for its members and establish unwavering partnerships with the other tribes and associations in Minnesota.

At the tail end of the event, the chiefs and their entourage joined Obaahemaa Ofosua Amoakoa I as they danced to the popular “sokoo na mmaa p3” tune by Amakye Dede.
