I Am Confused

Dear Auntie Betty, I am a General Arts student in a second cycle school. I will be writing my West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) next year, but do not know the exact career to pursue in future.

I, therefore, have a problem regarding the choice of a tertiary institution to attend after my SSS education.

At a point, I want to be a journalist and at another, I thought it would be better to be a lawyer. I have interest in several professions, but I do not know the exact one to go for. I badly need your help.

Doris,

Wa.

Dear Doris, Why don't you take some time to search yourself deeply to find out what you like doing most. Is it a lot of reading and writing? Then you could see if you'd really want to be a journalist.

If you are very good at the sciences then talk to your science teachers in school and see if you can pursue a career in that field.

Whenever you are on vacation you can take a step further by reading more on some of the areas you have thought of building a career in.

You could even call any of the offices of your dream careers and have a chat with some of the personnel there. But don't forget to discuss this with your parents, teachers and school counsellor to guide you. All the best.
