She Gave Up On Natural Hair; 3 Years Later She’s An Inspiration To Others With Tough Hair

Stella Yamoah is a System Administrator with an educational institution who had problems with her rather long permed hair.

With her long hair however, she was always told her hair was weak which then meant hair trimmed on each hair touch up visit.

“They started cutting my hair touch up by touch up until it became so short and that was when I started playing with natural hair ideas.”

Frustrated by this in 2015, she hopped unto the natural hair buzz which was sweeping across Ghana and other African countries by then.

After 4 months of tumultuous natural hair journey, she made a sharp U-turn returning to permed hair.

Going natural without any information and research, she found out handling it wasrather tedious and painful.

“I actually kept my hair natural for about 4 months and it was so frustrating so I went back to perm and after gaining some knowledge on how to handle natural hair, I started again.”

“I went into it without knowing anything about it, so combing and detangling was painful and difficult; I was using a very wrong approach.”

Upon realizing that, she started asking around and reading about it- she went online, watched videos on natural hair and started putting it into practice.

…And viola the picture attached to the story says it all; a healthy, thick, blossoming, voluminous, natural hair.

She had this advice for women having tough time with their natural hair and contemplating going back to perming, “it actually takes determination and consistency to achieve this.”

Just so you know, she has never been to the salon for the period she has been natural and we can imagine how much she has saved from her salon bills.

Stella is currently working to launch natural hair products to help other natural hair sisters.
