Trials And Temptation: A Believers Approach- Persevere Through Faith

Perseverance is not a decision to stand firm, resist, or merely say ‘no’ as many have it. Rather, it is a product of faith in God (James 1:2-3, Romans 5: 1-5). I mean do not put yourself under hardship and term it perseverance. In other words, do not go the hard way to be justified or obtain favour because you want to persevere.

PERSEVERE THROUGH FAITH
You may worsen your situation or meet an untimely death! It is worth noting that, when going through trials and temptations you are not alone. God is right there to help. In God’s view, no temptation should cease you. Acknowledging God through faith in whatever you going through means giving Him an opportunity to help you out.

The reason is that the measure of trials meted to you is usually within your strength, by ‘your strength’ I am referring to the strength made available to you by God. The word says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. God is always ready to help you overcome what (the trials) He allows to come your way (1 Corinthians 10:13). So you see, you are not fighting all by yourself, neither are you fighting with your own strength. Whiles, you are at it, God will give you the strength it takes to overcome.

A colleague’s favourite statement that got stuck with me is this “change the battlefield”. An important approach to know and use when dealing with temptations is to change the battlefield. By this, I mean ‘get praying’ No snake can win a battle which is airborne. Clearly, you are bound to fail if you consider perseverance during trials and temptations a battle with self where skills, intellect, ideas, intuitions and what you feel in your guts is what carries the day. Perseverance in faith should be accompanied with prayers to overcome temptations. Move the situation from the physical into the spiritual realm, because nothing happens by chance. Even chances (opportunities) are orchestrated!

In this approach, what I am saying is that “the principle is faith the process is prayer”. Maybe you are going through a situation you only can understand how terrible it is making you. How it’s tearing you apart and making you feel like you are insignificant in every way. If you could tap into the strength of God and persevere through faith in prayer you will see your story changed. Truth, about perseverance, is that it is well defined when you want to give up. Therefore, I say to you do not give up, do not give in, do not relax, rather stretch out your wings. It might hurt for a while, but the winds will soon come in and you will soar like the eagle.
