Pre-wedding photoshoot has become the order of the day and a way most couples in Ghana announce the date for their up coming marriage ceremony.

These nicely edited photos end up on social media platforms usually a month to the marriage ceremony.

The phenomenon has created a divide as some deem it a waste of time and money and others see nothing wrong with it.

For Julius Ofori Boadu who is relatively new to the photography business, between Ghc200 and Ghc 400 is his rate for a pre- wedding photo shoot depending on details like props, location, number of pictures needed etc.

" I get pre-wedding orders roughly once a month and I think a lot of people do it because they see friends or others do it. Some genuinely do it because they want it for their invitation designs. While others do it for social media."

Julius has been into photography for almost a year and his outfit is called CwesiNfoni.

"Well, I do mostly at least 2 or at most 3 pre-wedding shoots per month. It doesn't really go beyond 3 in a month and I think that's manageable," Solo Afari of Damcity Photo studio said in an interview with Modernghana.com.

He adds, "Mostly, my pre-wedding shoots come with the charges of the whole wedding itself."

Asked why the the rise of pre-wedding photo shoot, he said it's a modern way to announce the wedding date with the ever popular "save the date" tag.

Afari who has been into photograpy for 8 years and established his studio two years ago charges between Ghc2300-ghc4000 for the wedding package which includes the pre-wedding photography.

Peter Aboagye of Final Image has been a photographer for over a decade and charges Ghc500 for only pre -weddng photo shoot and get two contracts in a month

"Pre-wedding photo shoot has become popular in Ghana because Ghanaians are now beginning to understand photography and the importance of keeping memories," Aboagye noted.
