Jumia "Local Food Friday Campaign" Launched

Jumia Ghana Limited, has launched its local food Friday campaign with a call on the people to have faith and patronize and consume local dishes.

The Campaign is an innovative way mooted by Jumia to boost and encourage consumption of local dishes and to also promote local restaurants in the country.

Launching the Campaign in Accra on Friday, Jumia Foods Country Director, Mr. Terry Afram, proposed for Fridays to be set aside as days for the people both locals and expatriates to patronize and consume only local dishes

‘’ With this campaign, Mr. Afram added, we aim to influence consumer behavior such that the ordering of local food on our platform become just common as ordering for example pizza’’.

In line with the overall strategy of Jumia to promote local businesses and bridge the wide gap between them and the customers, the Campaign will get locals and expatriates ordering local food at very affordable prices.

The Jumia Foods Country Director mentioned that customers will now enjoy their regular fufu and soup, banku and tilapia, yam and kontomire stew and other local meals every Friday from their favourite local restaurants at much reduced prices.

The Campaign which runs from Friday 8th December to Friday 15th December will see Jumia given its cherished customers up to 50% discount on selected meals for a week, after which there will be discounts every Friday.

He also disclosed that they will work together to ensure massive packaging of the foods for the customers and that their service is available everyday between the hours of 9am to 9pm.

Jumia food service which is currently in nine different African countries is available only in Accra and Tema but plans are far advanced to expand to Kumasi and Takoradi next year.

He however pointed out that the introduction of the local food campaign should not discourage consumers from patronizing non-local foods on the Jumia platform.
