No One Can Stop Us-B&D

B&D Toronto-based Ghanaian gospel duo, B&G, is optimistic that it will be the toast of Ghana's music industry this season as their latest album, “Who Go Fit Challenge God” is gradually amassing fans via the airwaves.

The duo, made up of two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Amoateng Akin and Doris Owusu, partly from the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, in an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES , says it believes nothing can impede their success, if it is the will of God that they excel.  

“If God says you are going to be this or that, no one can stop you; when Jesus says 'yes' no one can say 'no'. We have been singing behind the scenes and at church for many years, but it is about four years ago that we decided to go commercial with our music. So if our dream of making a big hit comes true, then there is nothing impossible to God,” Beatrice says.

The group made its debut appearance in 2007 with the album “Winner,” which was released in Toronto in 2007 but could not make the necessary resounding stride into Ghana's music scene.

Without leaving anything to chance, the group decided to come down to Ghana and record its next and latest album, “Who Go Fit Challenge God”. The 10-track album has the signature of gospel hit engineer Nacy. Among the 10 tracks is a remix of the title track from the previous album. “Winner Remix” is a praise song which appropriately declares Satan a loser and highlights the power of God and the victory He guarantees those who believe in Him.

“Onyame Nsa Wo Mu,” from their previous album, also spots a remake as “ Ebe Ye Yie”. The track is a mid-tempo expression of the awesome power of God, with simple but assuring lyrics that God will improve one's situation, no matter how difficult it may be. The cut which also features vocals from Nacy is a must-listen.

The lead singles, “Me Kwan Da Nyinaa” and “Me Yi N'ay,” are currently being enjoyed by Ghanaians and understandably so. The pulsating instrumentals behind these praise songs are at best described as danceable - as you can't help but snap your fingers, nod your head, stump your feet, and finally get up to dance. The rest of the tracks are “Me Kwan Da Nyinaa,” “Me Yi N'aye,” “Mesom Nyame,” “Hwan Mpo Na,” “Agya Nyame” and the title track, 'Who Go Fit Challenge God,” which was sung in pidgin.

All the songs are not just interesting but also exhort the name of God.
