Fourth season of Stars of the Future Reality Show launched!

Stars of the Future (SOF), a reality show that presents young talents between the ages of 16 and 26 with an opportunity to hone their talents and sets them on a path to establishing their music careers, had its fourth season launched at the National Theatre last Tuesday.

Acording to Charterhouse, organisers of the show, this season's series began in May 2009 with two sets of auditions. The first set took place in Kumasi, with the second in Accra.

Noting that the call to join the search for a new music icon was answered by many youth with diverse talents, and the search team, made up of the Charterhouse Production team and the three Judges for the show, sat through auditions for countless hours, and had a preliminary number of 700 contestants, who were further screened through two different sets of auditions.

Out of the final set of auditions emerged twenty brilliant talents introduced at the launch, out of these 20 individuals came the very final twelve contestants to be contesting for the ultimate prize.

The launch marked the beginning of 13 weeks of gruelling weekly performances and the dreaded evictions, till we emerge with this year's Star of the Future.

Every week, the twelve contestants will battle each other on stage at the National Theatre, a venue that has becomes the home of the Stars of the Future, as the weekly performance tasks will be recorded to a live audience every Friday at 7:00 p.m. for the duration of the series.

This will be broadcast on GTV every Sunday at 3:00 p.m., and a repetition on Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. dedicated to the weekly eviction shows which will prune the contestants down to the final four who will go into the finals.

The organisers urged all to expect to see a transformation in the contestants over the weeks as they go through voice training to perfect their talents, and to complete their Stars experience, the contestants will also be coached in stage performance, song writing, choreography and basic knowledge in copyright and artistes management.

Judges for the show will be the usual ace radio presenter, Doreen Andoh, and producer extraordinaire Zapp Mallet, but introducing for season 4, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EKB records, Kiki Banson, as Judge number three.

The Music Director of the Series will be Mr. Johnny Fingers, while the soundz will be provided by Master Mix Studios, with music by the resident band – the Shabo Crew.

This season's winning prizes at stake include the winner taking a brand new car, while he or she will be aided to produce their first single, with a corresponding music video, and will also be signed onto the Master Mix Record label to record their debut album.

The overall winner will also sign a whopping performance contract, worth about GH¢25,000 during his reign, courtesy MTN.

There will be a total of about GH¢9,000 cash shared among the remaining finalists, and courtesy of MTN, the weekly winners of the MTN Golden Moment will receive GH¢100 worth of airtime.

Audience can participate in the show by voting –via SMS & Voice, mobile downloads, and chat applications.
