Adom FMs Temafest Pulls Crowd

Sarkodie The Chemu Park in Tema was on Boxing Day turned into an amusement park as thousands of music and football fans and others trooped to the place to celebrate with residents this year's edition of the prestigious Temafest, organised by Adom FM, a Tema-based radio station.

The huge park was filled by a sea of human beings as people from all walks of life from areas such as Ashaiman, Lashibi, Nungua, Teshie among others came in their numbers to take part in the festival, the second to be organised. Fans enjoyed the day with musical performances and sporting activities among other games.

Activities kick-started on Friday morning with football matches, tug of war, 'Jama' competitions, table tennis and other games. The excitement came when the various competitions were dramatised to the glee of observers. Winners of the games received a variety of awards while others were congratulated for their support.

After the day-long activities, the tone for the real fiesta was set, from 6pm, as the stage was prepared for the cream of Ghana's hiplife artistes to do what they knew best. Among them were the 'loud-mouthed' Kwaw Kese, sexy Tinny, Asem, the kangaroo man Tic Tac, Okyeame Kwame, Sarkodie and Pop Skinny. The rest were Shegee, Wutah, Blaze of TV3 Gangstarz fame and other upcoming stars.

They serenaded the large crowd with pleasant renditions.

An upcoming gospel artiste, Sir Gabby started the night with a prayer and a performance. After him, came performances from Kofi Korea, Guru, Millet Man, Yaa-Pono, Akomfirm, and Stoneboy, all of whom are underground hiplife artistes. Even though some did well the crowd still longed for the big stars. Shegee thus set the tone for the big names with an impressive act. However the crowd was only interested in her mini skirt; anytime she bent down, it attracted a big roar from the crowd.

The trio Dunsin did not leave their sewing machines at home as they brought them on stage with their funny outfits to further announce their presence on the music scene.

Subsequent artistes also proved they were worth their salt by their performances.

The show ended at about 4:30am Saturday morning and continued with an after party at the Barcadis Night Club. The festival is anticipated to be bigger next year.   By Francis Addo
