Ghanaians give me the respect they will give Jay Z and Beyoncé — Shatta Wale
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known in showbiz as Shatta Wale, says he enjoys a level of respect in Ghana comparable to that of global music icons Jay Z and Beyoncé.
He made the claim during an interview with Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, where he reflected on his career, earnings, and recognition within the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
Shatta Wale also stated that he has built significant wealth through his music career in Ghana, noting that his brand commands strong demand and high performance fees.
According to him, the respect he receives locally cuts across different sectors, including political and entertainment circles.
"The reason is that the respect I have from political parties to ministers to, you know, organisers, like it's crazy for me in Ghana. Like anybody that calls me in Ghana gives me the respect they will give to Jay Z," he said.
The award-winning musician further claimed that he is capable of earning as much as $1 million per show in Ghana, depending on the arrangement and the promoter involved.
"If I tell you I can get paid $1 million in Ghana. You will be like, ah, how? But Ghana is a beautiful place where people understand the music culture," he added.
He explained that his earnings in Ghana have contributed significantly to his financial stability over the years, describing the local market as highly rewarding for his brand.
