Legendary hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone has opened up about why he was unable to perform at Sarkodie’s highly anticipated Rapperholic: The Homecoming concert in Kumasi on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

In a video statement, Reggie revealed that he and Sarkodie had carefully planned a surprise appearance designed to thrill fans. The idea was for him to storm the stage immediately after Sarkodie’s joint performance with Obrafour, catching the audience off guard.

However, a technical glitch ruined the moment. According to Reggie, DJs struggled throughout the night to retrieve the performance file that had been prepared, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.

To keep the element of surprise, Reggie said he even hid backstage with his face covered so other artistes would not notice him. “Sarkodie was supposed to present me as the new ‘Oseikrom President,’ a position I’ve held for decades,” he disclosed, adding that the rapper himself was visibly frustrated when the unveiling fell through.

“I waited backstage until five in the morning, but due to technical difficulties, it didn’t happen,” Reggie said.

Although the performance never materialised, the hiplife icon later made a brief appearance on stage to greet fans and express his support for Sarkodie, assuring the crowd that he was proud to be part of the historic night.
