Wendy Shay accuses Ghanaians of ignorance in BBL debate

Ghanaian Afropop star Wendy Shay has firmly shut down long-standing rumours suggesting she has undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), asserting in a passionate social media post that her curves are completely natural.

In a candid message shared on Instagram, the Survivor hitmaker expressed frustration over persistent speculation surrounding her body, stating that her physique has always been part of her natural build, just less noticeable during her early years in the music industry.

“So y’all want to tell me before BBL, Africans didn’t have natural shapes like mine? What’s with this BBL tag? Is it because I’ve gained in the right places?” she wrote. “Y’all should get a life and stop being naive. What you’re seeing is 100% natural.”

Shay attributed the misunderstanding to the early body-shaming and cyberbullying she endured when she first entered the industry, which she believes may have affected how the public viewed her. “It’s not my fault y’all didn’t realize it earlier because of the bullying when I stepped into the game. I’ve had it since!” she added.

The singer, known for her bold class and empowering lyrics, has consistently used her platform to speak out against unrealistic beauty standards, particularly those imposed on women in the spotlight. In her latest statement, she urged fans and critics alike to stop making assumptions about women’s bodies and instead focus on education and self-awareness.

“Clearly, humans will always have something to say—either your booty is too big, too small, or too fake. Mind your business! Africa, wake up!” she concluded.

The renewed public scrutiny of Shay’s appearance began after recent photos and performances showed her with more pronounced curves, prompting fresh speculation online.
