The father of Ghanaian Snapchat influencer Philipa Frimpong, popularly known as Yaa Baby, has defended the deceased boyfriend, Hayford Boateng, also known as GH Kobby, after he allegedly shot and killed her in Yeji, Bono East Region.

According to the late Yaa Baby's father, the shooting was an accident, and GH Kobby didn't intentionally kill his daughter.

The incident occurred on June 10, 2025, when GH Kobby allegedly pulled out a firearm from his vehicle, which accidentally discharged, hitting Yaa Baby.

Despite the severity of the incident, Yaa Baby's father believes GH Kobby's actions were not premeditated.

"He did not kill my daughter intentionally. After the shooting, they attempted to revive her, but she was not strong enough. Perhaps God wanted to call her to join him in heaven," he said.

Yaa Baby's father also revealed that GH Kobby's family has promised to help with funeral arrangements and asked the public to stop speculating about the incident being intentional. However, his comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many expressing outrage over his defense of GH Kobby.

GH Kobby, his friend Obolo, and another companion were arrested and remanded in police custody following the incident. GH Kobby's father has stated that his son deserves to be locked up in prison, emphasizing the need for discipline and responsibility.
